Sources and licences

NCSI and ministry data are used under Oman's Open Data Use Licence, which is compatible with CC BY 4.0 and allows reuse with the source named and any changes stated. Boundaries © OpenStreetMap contributors under the ODbL.

This is an independent project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by NCSI, the ministries or any government entity.

How the figures were put together

  • Population figures are NCSI's estimates for the end of each year, from 2010. 2025 is the latest.
  • Unemployment and employment rates are as NCSI publishes them per wilayat in its labour market dataset, 2020–2025.
  • Areas are measured from the OpenStreetMap boundaries and are not official. Density is NCSI's population divided by that area.
  • Growth, shares and ranks are calculated from NCSI's counts. NCSI does not publish these calculated figures.
  • School counts come from the Ministry of Education's school locations for 2025–2026. Each school is assigned to the wilayat containing its coordinates.
  • Al Jabal Al Akhdar and Sinaw became wilayats in 2022, so their growth is measured from that year. Sinaw was split from Al Mudaybi.
  • Boundaries are from OpenStreetMap, simplified for display. Sur's relation, mislabelled there, was corrected by hand.
  • Figures are published as the source gave them. Possible source errors are flagged with a note, never corrected.

These figures differ sharply from the adjacent years. They are shown as published, without correction.
